past couple weeks

Here's the sad pictures of my pink eye babies. They were still so happy though. Luckily, they were the only two that got it, and I'm praying we can all stay healthy for awhile. 2 weeks cooped up felt like a year.

My gift that was left at my door while I was sick. Nichole, you're amazing! The muffins were so delicious and the kids still ask for this everyday:)
Our little mover. This picture makes her look funny, but she's our little hobo spider. She's EVERYWHERE! I forgot how crazy this stage is. She'll crawl halfway up the stairs and cry because she doesn't know what to do. She's pulling the ends off the door stoppers, eating everything off the floor, pulling things off the shelves...she pulled the cord that I didn't see dangling off the cupboard and it pulled our george foreman off and broke. Luckily, it didn't land on her! She's so much fun though. Her personality is coming out and she just makes us all so happy. She's so much happier now that she can go wherever she wants and doesn't have to wait for you to pick her up.

 CHEESE!
Before I forget. Mason was supposed to get his ears tubed last week. We show up at the ENT's office with our referral form and we'd had 2 confirmation phone calls reminding us of our surgey appt. The Dr looks at his ears and confirms that he would qualify for, and needs them tubed. Obviously we already know that. Apparently this was just another wasted appt for them to make more money by having 2 Doctors look at his ears. I waited 2 months for this!?!? So his surgey is now in June. 3 months later. I'm so frustrated..but what can you do!! Gotta love the money making healthcare system:) I'll be so happy once this over, and so will Mason! We now have another antibiotic to put him on, because he's had fluid in his ears these whole 2 months waiting for the surgery.

Fun in the Sun

Playing outside is so much more fun with Chris around. I'll play at the splash pads with them, but I don't tend to dive on the slip n slide:) So we always look forward to the weekends when he's home.

 Such a great Dad

Seriously?!

Maybe I'm done having kids. You think you hit a certain age mark where certain sneaky things haven't happened yet, and you're in the clear. Nope..what was I thinking. Mason just turned 2. I think this is just the beginning. Or I need to put everything in a safe with a lock so he doesn't have access to it. This happened while I was feeding Kinley dinner last night. Honestly, I usually don't have to worry about Mason. He usually goes upstairs and plays with blocks, or his toys. He really has been such a sweet, well mannered boy. I never expected this to happen. When I realized this was with PERMANENT MARKER...I flipped. I wasn't calm. We're renting..so after I calmed down for a minute, I loaded them in the van headed to the store for magic erases. It's not taking it all off yet. So I shut the door last night and told myself I'll tackle it tomorrow. Pinterest has some ideas, so I'll those. Someone said it's a miracle we survive kids. I'm thinking, it's a miracle they survive ;)

Oh you sweet boy, it's a good thing you're so cute :)

Faith

Chris and I have always talked about how strong the spirit is when the Apostles speak. Their testimonies are incredible and make me cry. I want their faith, steadfastness, and patience. Elder Nelson is so sweet and tender in this video. This is one of the videos that helped me last week.

“If you have faith, you can handle difficulties.”
“Be patient with yourself. Don’t demand things that are unreasonable. But demand of yourself improvement.”
“As you let the Lord help you, He will make the difference.”

Tender Mercies

Wow...what a week. As bad as it has been, I've learned a lot. It sounds cheesy, but I need to write it down, before I forget the things I've felt since this is my journal:)

May is Chris's 1 year mark here. I moved down to join him in August. We were both excited for this move, but sad to leave family. Luckily, we moved into a ward that we have loved and have made some great friends. There are so many girls in this ward that I look up to and respect. Such great friends that I've been able to lean on and help me with my kids. It's been good for me to be here, where I've been learning how to do all this Motherhood stuff by myself. One such friend left a bag with a gift, muffins and card at my door today. It made me cry. Thank you for thinking of me when you have a million other things going on in your life! Thank you for reminding me that even during such a hard couple days, that we're not alone. Another dear friend that is watching Addy today so I can get some rest..thank you a million times over for always being there.

But this week Mason and Kinley had pink eye..and I've had the sickness from h*!!. It was SO hard to not be able to ask anyone for help. I didn't want to risk anyone else getting pink eye. It's one thing to take care of sick kids when you're healthy, but it was so hard yesterday when it hurt to stand up, and move. I was nauseous, body aches, sinus headache, and then in the afternoon I got a migraine that had me curled up in the bathroom throwing up, crying and not being able to open my eyes and move. I finally was able to get some medicine out of the kitchen and then I was on my knees praying. I was pleading for help, and mercy. I could NOT feel that way the rest of the day until Chris got home at 7. I was so homesick to be home where my Mom and Mother-in-law would be over in a heartbeat. (please don't feel bad!) Anyway, this is why I'm grateful for this experience that I don't want to repeat.

I was forced to get on my knees and pray for help. I'm so slow to do this, and always want to do things on my own without my Savior's help. I cried and cried. I begged for forgiveness for being so stubborn. I prayed for strength to get up and finish this day. I had children who needed me to come get them, and I couldn't do it on my own. I am grateful for the things I felt and learned in that moment. I felt inspired to read my patriarchal blessing again, and listen to a certain conference talk.(will share in another post)

Each day I realize more and more that I can't keep my Heavenly Father and Savior out of everything I do. The past couple weeks I've been doing a new Health Challenge. I've changed my eating habits and have been doing new exercise things. I have felt amazing. It was depressing to feel that great, and then get this sick. But as hard as it is for me to admit, eating and exercising to get the certain toned/fit body I want will not bring me true happiness. I've started having church music on all day..which that alone helps the kids and I be more patient with each other. I've tried harder to read scriptures with them during breakfast. The other day, Addy asks.."why are we reading the scriptures?..we haven't done that in a long time." Yes, thank you for reminding me:) Anyway..so I ask her where we should read, and she tells me: "nephi, when he builds the boat, and it works when he's good, and doesn't when they're being bad."
I wanted to cry. I know she didn't learn that from me. Thank you Primary teachers, who do such an amazing job at teaching our children!

I constantly need the spirit with me. I've been craving that the past couple weeks as I've started this new journey. True happiness is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can be as healthy and skinny and rich or whatever it is you want in this life, but it will be not bring you true happiness. I keep thinking when I look a certain way, everything else will fall into place and I'll be happy. It's something I've struggled with my whole life. But after having children and not having all the time in the world to achieve that, I've learned differently. I know when I come to HIM first, and put HIM first and show him where my true desires are, that He will help me with those other things I desire and work hard for. It will come. Our children will see what it is we focus on and spend our most time doing. I want them to hear church music, and see me reading and listening to the scriptures and conference talks. I want them to see me being patient and loving. I am SO grateful to my Heavenly Father for showing me these tender mercies yesterday and helping me see clearly. I am grateful that as the day went on, I slowly started to feel better. Chris was able to get home a little earlier and take care of the kids until bedtime. I went to sleep with peace knowing everything was going to be okay.

It's only Tuesday????

Can this week just be over already!?!? I know, it's only Tuesday. Last week Mason had pink eye. I started getting a sore throat last week as well..which went away on Sunday. Or so I thought. It just moved and has settled in my chest, now making me feel like I'm coughing up knives along with my lungs. And I think my sinuses are getting ready to explode.. and my body feels like a herd of elephants have trampled on it. It's so fun! I have definitely taken my health for granted. I honestly can't remember the last time I was sick. It's been really nice! So on Sunday, Kinley woke up with junk in her eyes. Fabulous..a week later after Mason, she got pink eye. We were really confused because Mason's eyes aren't 100 % clear either, so I took them to our Dr yesterday.

I am now very annoyed at the urgent care doctore we took Mason to. He gave Mason ointment to put it, and said if it doesn't clear up in 2 days to take the 2 bottles of oral antibiotic. For one, ointment is impossible to get in children's eyes. So we started the oral the next day. Both bottles only gave him a total of 4 doses.

Our Doctor said that they usually don't give children ointment, because of it being impossible to get in their eyes. The second they blink it comes right out. They also don't give oral antibiotic for pink eye because it would take a month's worth of doses to kill the infection. You don't want to give that much medicine to a child. Way to go Urgent Care Doctor!! No wonder Mason's didn't clear all the way up. You're supposed to give children antibiotic in the form EYE DROPS. When they blink, it will go right in. Very annoyed we had to pay twice for something that should have been fixed the first time, and probably could have prevented Kinley from getting it a week later and having Mason continue to have it for a week. Lesson learned. Now we know for the future. So the kids and I are locked in the house this week. I feel like our house is contaminated with the plague. The kids and I are driving each other crazy. I wish I could be that mom that could be patient and do crafts with them all day while we're cooped up, but I am miserable. Hopefully they'll forgive me later:)

for the record..Addy has escaped it all. The Dr checked her eyes just in case it might be starting, but she's great!
